Work Record - Shoot 1

Shoot 1
Androgynous
My first photoshoot consists of a range of shots showing what I feel like my identity is. I wanted to start with who I feel that I am now as I can then flashback to the past in future photoshoots and analyse the other identities that I believed I was.
This first photoshoot featured my Androgynous self; the person who I feel I am. I utilized my masculine and feminine features by adding accessories that are deemed female and combined them with a male appearance of short hair and a shirtless torso to show my sex.

Editing
My top images all feature me with short hair, natural makeup, accessories and glasses. The images were taken at the same time of day in the same room'; However they are composed differently.

This first image is a landscape image. This image was not perfectly composed as to the left of the unedited image you can see a mirror in frame. Despite this visual composition error, most of the other visual aspects and the electronic aspects of the composition are perfect. Within the lighting composition there is a negative space hiding the right half of my face and some of my upper body yet enhancing the right side of my face with the bright lighting. This composition highlights the accessories which therefore makes the story behind this image clear. The way I am posed is almost as if I am holding myself or protecting myself. I posed in this manor because it has taken a while for me to figure out who I am and I therefore feel as if now I need to protect myself from others who may disagree with my lifestyle choices.

This image was not overly edited but was altered to fit a beauty standard. I chose to take this path of editing so that I can portray the best version of me as possible and to add as much glamour into my images as possible.
To edit my images I simply started by fixing the composition of the image; To do so I cropped out the mirror on the left and also cropped the top and right sides of the image so that the image would stay the same size as the original image.
I then took the spot healing tool and zoomed in close to my face and chest to conceal any imperfections that were on my body. After this I smoothed over the face and chest slightly to give my body a more 'perfect' look.
I did not edit the lighting or colour of this image in any way as I felt that the composition was perfect.

This next and final image is composed as a portrait image. I chose to execute a range of portrait and landscape images so that I would have a variety of images to chose from and to also show more or less of my body within the images. This image is almost perfectly composed as it features the negative space mentioned before and also doesn't show any anomalies around the edges or in the background. However, there is a slight glare and reflection within my glasses as I was facing the source of light. I am posed almost the same way as before; In this image however, I am looking away from the camera and holding the arm facing the camera almost as if I am protecting myself from the audience.

This image was edited the same way as the previous image. However, I edited also spot healed a few imperfections on the background so it was as seamless as possible.
I also felt like my skin looked too pale and cool toned and I therefore heightened the saturation in my skin so that my skin looked slightly more tanned and warm toned.

Progression
From this photoshoot I know that I need to improve the visual composition of my unedited images and watch out for anything that may break the composition of the image. As my editing was basic for the first photoshoot I could experiment more with editing in the next shoots if it applies to the content of the images.

Androgynous - Partly male and partly female in appearance; of indeterminate sex.
